Figure-related links? Empty
PostSubject: Figure-related links?   Figure-related links? EmptyFri Nov 28, 2008 9:05 am

Not sure if this would sit anywhere else, but I thought I might gather up some links to do with figures - sculpting, or maybe also sites that sell them etc

Anyway, here's the reason for the post: A neat site that has 5-minute tutorials on how to sculpt things such as faces, hands and feet:

http://www.sciborminiatures.com/ - Obviously to do with fantasy wargaming miniatures, but useful info nonetheless. Click on 'Articles' to see the tutorials - but probably worth a look around the rest of it too.

Links to 'RTR' Figures

Railroad Avenue - US style figures, but some good quality sculptings here - 1:20.3

Dr Flintbone - Some US style, mostly 1:25 - as unearthed by Andy MzB

Schleich Figures - A limited range, but scaling at about 1:20.3

Heyn - Simple-looking figures (1:22.5), but some are dressed to have a certain '1910' look to them!

Village Passion - Wide range of Lemax figures (1:22.5 - 1.24 - ish), with some fun vignets! As recommended by Mikey...

Updated to add new link to 'Heyn' - might be of interest to Mikey?

Good Idea Clive. I already have about 20 of the schleich horses they are good value and can stay out in all weathers. I was also surprised to see that i have a couple of the Heyn figures (bought on french ebay), but i didn't know their make. I shall def buy a few more!

Apart from possibly the first figure, they aren't made by Heyn ... he just stocks them. I have the Pinocchio figures and they are definitely made by Bully.

Good point - but at least there's an online outlet now where you can get them - I guess a search for 'Bully' figures might even yield some stockists located even nearer?

For sourcing figures, I have found one of the best brands is LEMAX. They are essentially made for the christmas market and are popular in america for decorating around the tree. they do victorian and modern era and are REALLY good prices. Also at this time of year many stockists sell of their stock cheaply. I buy from 'Village passion' in Belgium near to french border. their site is;

Sizes average out at 7 cm (5' 3" in G scale)

There's some great stuff at that Belgian place Mikey...

I could spend a fortune there.
