Quite surprising the mule Pushed instead of pulling one would hardly think the mule would kick up much dust at the speed it would be going.

May-be the carriage are not reversed at each end. The mule is pulling on one way, pushing (or retaining, if any mild slope) on the way back. But it is just my assumptiuon.

A good point, no turntable hardly justifiable.
Although on closer inspection it looks as if the yoke (or whatever attaches the mule to the trolley) fits to the U coupling on each end to the trolley, so they could just walk the mule around each end.
