Don't miss this fortnights offering on
Rail TV

Especially 32 mins of 'Patrice et René ont leurs vapeurs'. Some excellent 'fly on the wall' of steaming up the 'Cail' on the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme.

Just had a most enjoyable half hour watching Patrice et Rene.

Particularly interesting the preparations for steaming up.

Showing my ignorance here, what are the three loco's depicted - the diesel and two steam?

Cheers Brian

The steam locos are,

Patrice and Rene's locomotive is a 'Cail' originally from Panama.

The other red steam locomotive is a 2-6-0T Corpet Louvet.

CFBS
Click on CFBS en détail then Nos collections. There are some pages in English.

The diesel is a homebuilt machine on an old steam loco chassis originally from the BA (Blanc Argent).

I've been watching that corpet with interest Brian. It doesnt need much doing to it,the last two grey ones on Frebay sold for around 350 euros, so this seems a bargain!

The Corpet on e bay was just the LGB 030.

The real Corpet on the CFBS is a much rarer 130 type.

Ralph Reppingen once promised a model of this engine. I will contact him this year and ask him as to the progress....

There are a few French live steam engines (occasionally for sale) built by François Laluque, an engineer who lives not too far from me.
