The weekend 25/26 April marks the Festival of steam on the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de la Somme. Here is a little pic from the last festival in 2006
Locomotive number 3714 in service on the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de la Somme This 0-6-2T locomotive, curiously named after a small village Beton-Bazoches was built in 1909 by the engineering company of Buffaud Robatel in Lyon. It spent most of it’s life on a truncated 16 kilometre line serving a ‘sucrerie’ a sugar refinery between Nangis and Jouy-le-Chatel for the transport of sugar beets. This line was once part of les Tramways de Seine et Marne, a vast metre gauge newtwork in the department 77 east of Paris spanning the 2 principal rivers.
