EKB19/20 steam locomotive Featurephotomed

Shortly after the first world war Henschel built 10 superheated ‘Bogal’ type locomotives originally for the military railways.
These were used by the German army during the second world war and passed to the metre gauge Rhineland railways afterwards. The EKB (Euskirchener Kreisbahnen) near Cologne received 3 such machines which survived on goods train services up until 1959 when they were scrapped.

The model constructed by Ralph Reppingen is a faithful reproduction of one of these powerful close coupled locomotives.
In fact Ralph’s father worked as a signalman on the EKB and his family have a close affinity with the line and it’s history.

EKB19/20 kit

The model running on the CFG features fully working valve gear, regulator, whistle and uncoupling all radio controlled.
It will stay in steam for about 1 hour on a full gas tank and is never short of power.
