Hello,

I would like to know if someone got some "Gabarit" for the IIm scale and the proportion used for a locomotive and wagon. I am about to start a project, I would like to buit with the right proportion.

1/22.5 scale is the usual scale for LGB (although not all). I build my models at 13.5mm to the foot. Bear in mind Laurent that the gauge of track is 45mm so that equals 1 metre. Is that what you are looking for?

Yes I would like to have the right size, so all the train are in the same proportion as LGB.

And more to the point if I have 2 line I want the train to pass next to each other without problem (tunnel and bridge too).

Normally a 2 metre clearance between lines, so 9-10 cms. should be ok even on R1's

As Mikey said IIm specifically relates to 1:22,5 scale on 45mm gauge track which represents metre gauge.

This is a precise scale/gauge combination defined by MOROP/NEM (European modelscale standards association) as opposed to 'G scale/gauge' which could be virtually anything running on 45mm track.

IIm is used throughout Europe when referring to metre gauge in miniautre.
(IIe and IIp exist too,).

The loading gauge (Gabarit) is thus dependant on what prototype metre gauge line your project is based on.

For example most continental metre gauge lines have a relatively small loading gauge compared to those of Africa, the Middle East and and Far East.
Many of their locomotives are regauged US heavy diesel types.

It' difficult to give a precise answer here with measurements.

I would suggest to look at some drawings of rolling stock from magazines, Voie Libre or the MTVS reviews for French stock and scale them down.

Also you may have to consider less prototype aspects of modelling like sharp radius curves and overhang.

As a rule (flexible type) I model near to 1:22 scale and the width of my stock doesn't exceed 120mm and the height from the rails 200mm.

Even in France the Renault ABH railcar was built to standard gauge size and used on metre gauge lines often couple to diminutive demotored Billard 80 trailer which looks bizarre!

Thanks for the advice, I will make some gabarit arround 1:24 as some of my drawing come from standard gauge. It should be realistic.

I would like to make a draisine, with a platform at the back. Something not to difficult to start with.
I have to look arround to see what plastic and glue could be use.

For the bogie I will see for the same as the Piko diesel like the one I've got or to be more accurate the one of the Piko railbus.

I am thinking of a long draisine that could carry a little digger, so a long platform and a little crane.

The shape should be like that :

Gabarit IIm Draisi10

It 's not the right proportion yet, I will do a prototype made of cardboard first.

I noticed however that you did get the right color.

Intéressant et utile.
Peux tu ajouter plus des dimensions sur la carte stp ?
Ce sera un bon référence.

C'est à qui les beaux tunnels,I love you fabrication maison ?

TRADUCTION EN COURS CURRENT TRANSLATION
In continuation(suite) I explain you the process which I followed to build a size which he(it) is rather practical me for the check of the works of engineering and the rolling stock.
1.-Some precision about the sizes: there are two types(chaps) of sizes: those of the works of engineering, and those of the rolling stock.

The size of the works is limit in whom(which) he can exist no obstacle, and nevertheless which the works can never exceed at the risk of preventing the passage of the material(equipment).
Quays(Platforms), tunnels, bridges(decks) or any obstacle are limited for this size.

The size of the rolling stock is limit which one(which) the rolling stock can never overtake, at the risk of knocking with the works or any other obstacle.

The size has constant characteristics in a straight line. In curve these values change in proportion the length and the distance between axles of the material(equipment), and the beam(shelf) of the curve.

The here explained sizes serve only on-line

I am a bit puzzled with LGB scale however. They pretend for instance their ÖBB 2095 DIESEL LOK to be a 1/22.5 model. This wrong:
- the prototype runs on a 760mm wide track. With a 1/22.5 scale the track width shoulb be 33,78mm which is close to O scale track and far from 45mm G track.
- the prototype has 900mm diameter wheels. Therefore the model wheel daiameter should be 40mm and not 36mm
and a lot more.

It a pity, because they ealy specialized in ÖBB narrow gauge models. Why not taking the right scale?

I consider that LGB does not make model railways but good quality, high priced toys.

Anyway, G gauge is quite of a problem, because it's just a track width of 45mm. Due to the fact that you may consider this to be à 610mm (then you are in the SE scale), 760mm (no industrial provide to my knowledge), 1000mm (this is real IIm) or 1440mm (this is I scale), the scale varies from 1/13 to 1/32!!

I noticed too, than Pline is providing a very nice model of the DHR, but it is at the 1/19 scale. he safely made adjustable axles to run either on the right scale track of 32mm, or the 45mm, doing the same kind of approximation as LGB.

Unless you really want to keep on a specific scale, the G gauge is not more likely from 1/20 to 1/29.

It really depend on what you want to do and achieve.

Here a link for the different scale :

http://www.morop.eu/fr/normes/nem010_f.pdf

I have some wagon from US brand that are 1/29, they looks allright near a LGB locomotive, just because it's larger in the US.
I don't really mind the scale, if it looks fine to me.

But that's only my point of view.
