Recent talk of Alton (and model shops that sell things...) made me a little wistful.

If found this on You Tube. I'm not sure whether we've shown this before but I know we've talked about it.



I visited Droxford in about 1969 and was lucky enough to see this.

For those that don't know about this fondly lamented railway:

The Meon valley ran from Alton in Hampshire to Knowle junction in the south where it connected with the main south coast line.

Slightly off topic (but on the same disused line!) here's a link to the details for the station at Wickham:

From looking at Google-maps or similar, you can still see the path the original line took between the two places, albeit heavily wooded in places.

I always take a quick look at the railway bridge in Wickham whenever I drive past it on the A32. I just wish some of these lines could get resurrected, but of course they never will; it would cost too much.
