| Today's efforts have been focused on building one of the key foreground objects - the grape press... and now that the track is down starting to fill in the ground decor... | |

It's just a couple of Stainz cabs glued together on a Playmo chassis...
It's great! I like it very much!

| Wow! That grape press looks good. The turntable an street are suburb! What did you use for the street pavement? | |

What did you use for the street pavement? The paving is 10mm foam board with the patterns pressed in with a blunt pencil. If you get "Continental Modeller" magazine there's been a whole series of articles by Emmanuel Nouaillier on using foam board. The February 2010 issue is on road surfaces. His articles are for HO, but it's even easier when you scale up to G.

| Slow progress this week with the tedious but ultimately satisfying business of hand impressing the paving and brickwork and then sponging in the paintwork. This is now largely done apart from a ramp and steps etc... I've also done a bit more on the grape press and loading platform... Extended the right hand loading dock track so it can connect with "Normand", I'm waiting on various items... 30 wine barrels from 'Monsieur Maquettes' Pantile roofing sheets from 'back2bay6' Preiser figures from 'Dragon G Scale' Next priorities are... Wiring the underside Building the hinged return rail section Ballasting and completing the decor around the front rail | |

| That is very effective Brian and the details will make it.
I am going to try polystyrene too (10mm ceiling tiles) to fill in my try track.
What are you going to do with the 'track into the sky'. Did you find a suitable picture?
My only concern with using a sky backscene (which I am not because of the building) is connecting it to other people's sky...but then I suppose that's the same with the rest of the scenery.

| The barrels look better here than on their website. I have ordered some other varieties on e bay.
The figure looks good. I feel I've seen him before but where does he come from?

| Finished wiring the main part of the module today, essentially there are three track sections to the module... The main track at front (1), and the rear return line(2) which is behind the back scene, these two are both linked to the rest of the MOMI circuit via banana plugs at the rear The sidings / loading dock track(3) which is electrically isolated and can be either switched to the main MOMI (to receive incoming locos) or switched by means of a DPDT switch to a separate local supply for shunting operations. I could get a birds eye view of the module whilst it was on it's back for wiring As I am making my return rail (2) section removable I've provided Cannon plugs/sockets in the front part of the module Here the return rail (3) baseboard is being constructed Rather than hinges I'm now going to attach it with coach bolts and wing nuts The advantage of making it completely removable means that I'll be able to integrate it into a small oval layout by adding two semi circles of R1 track at each end! Here is the rear baseboard finished and in place ready for track laying. | |

| Hello I'm back in the land of the living! Just recovering from a virus infection which even saw me overnight in "Urgences" in Hospital at St Junien the other weekend! As a result, the module hasn't been touched (nor indeed the garden railway which now has weeds knee high) and is in exactly the same state as last reported - all dimensions are the same! It's going to take me at least a couple of weeks to catch up with other immediate projects here including the swimming pool and horses, so won't have anything to report until at least June. Sorry for my late response but the last three weeks have been HELL | |

Very sorry to hear your news; hope that you've fully recovered and that it won't stop us meeting up in early June when we'll be down there again. I'll call.

| Splendid Brian. Very cleverly done posters. I really thought for a moment there was actually a marque of Cognac called Brianb and I was trying to figure out how to pronounce the word. I have been working on my module too but very slowly at the moment. | |
