It´s all real noise, in fact almost too much, sometimes, though the track is underlayed with two layer of cork. The funny thing is that the sound is less on the steel bridges, leading me to think that the wooden frames and the plaster act as a huge resonance device. Well, now I know ....

Yes, I looked around for a long time, and then I bought the cheapest I could find off an internet site. It´s made of wood and is more a sort of deco object than a true model, and when it arrived, I saw that it was more 1:32 than 1:19. So it was out with the blunt instruments and I removed the original cabin - leaving all sorts of damage behind me. The replacement cabin bears an unusually strong resemblance to a Talyllyn mini-coach made by Perfect World, though in the case with one third less length than usual and portholes at the back - not part of the standard issue kit. And when I stuck it on top, I thought it looked just right. Although if it had to actually go to sea, it might be a little top-heavy .....

I´ve been trying to get things sorted out on the K&NWL and now those locos not undergoing major surgery have had their photos taken.

Usually after major surgery a period of convalescence is advised often at an envigorating place by the sea.

May I recommend such a place not too far, on the Baie de La Somme. In fact there is indeed just such a 'special steam locomotive convalescence weekend' on the 27th and 28th April.

Drs Betts, Bushell and Hibbs in attendance with their portable live steam infirmery and rehab unit. K&NWLR: Update on progress - Page 2 648764 Smile

Tragically, the 27th is the same day that the 16mm Narrow Gauge Assoc AGM takes place in Peterborough, where I have already arranged to pick up some stuff.

And I should think so too, though quite what an unfrocked 16mm narrow gauge modeller looks like, one scarcely dares to consider. But I would imagine that you have your uniform epaulettes torn off and your name and membership number erased from the records. On a less serious note, it is rather a good show, even if this year it is a week late leading to other more complex conflicts of interest-

Not quite sure how this will look in the end - it´s going to need trees behind it to give some height in front of the wall. At the moment, it´s just temporarily in place, trying to work out how to position things.

Let´s be careful before we blame out continental friends for the damage. I suspect that Henry VIII was the culprit.

Repainted the castle wall 3-4 times before planting stuff to hide the damage .... managed to get paint on the farm wall below as well. This is the background to the hop field which I hope to install by the summer.

Yup, this is a fully self-supporting railway. We try to do our bit for the local economy.
The coach? It´s a Perfect World kit of a Vale of Rheidol prototype, made from mahogany and varnished instead of painted.
