G Scale SAD is more like it these days.

Figured out a good acronym for LGB , wanna hear it ?

Lets Go Broke. Geddit ?

Well to be serious it is a shame what's happened but people are losing jobs and homes and stuff, far more serious things in life to get fired up about. And my savings/investments have been decimated and woss wuss is that teh £ is getting stronger again BAH no more bargains.

Yes Patrick......Keep it up.

My last fag was September 4th 2001. Never touched one since. That's why I have some nice steam engines.

Just think that stopping smoking 20 a day means you can buy a decent small live steam engine in 3 months.

Cor , thanks mates. A big kiss to mikey's wife too.
I love you

8 weeks tomorrow = 8 x 7 x 3.10 euro = €173.6 - NOT enough for my Piko railbus @ €228, however if we use Irish prices 8x7x6.1€ = €341.60, ah I NOW have an operating surplus.) Ok then 341 € = £382 at current rate but using 1.5€ to £1 ( when it gets strong again) = £511 GBPs already .
So £511 - £219 ( purchase price) leaves nearly £300 left over.

Thats how I explained my railbus purchase to the wife. I think I fooled myself too.

It's not just the cost of a packet of cigs that you need to add up.

Macthes, lighters (and fuel) sundries and all time spent and associated with smoking that could otherwise have possibly been spent doing something else.

And the smell, I can't stand being in a lift with some who has smoked, I used to smell that bad.
The ceilings in our house turned out to be white not creamy yellow
I was on 40+ a day, had to get up early in the morning to get em all in!
Mind I do like walking behind smokers in the street, gonna get into trouble one of these days.

Patrick, just round it up to E1000!

And well done from me too on your no-smoking campaign. I've never smoked, but it took me a year to lose 4 stones in weight, so I know what it feels like when an ongoing lifestyle change is embarked upon. More power to you mate!

Most notable is that I stopped 1 week before the xmas holidays with MIL in Benidorm, oooooh that WAS a hard time, but I stuck it. Dropped some fags off at my mates the other day and he was puffing away while I was at his house. My clothes stank, Dad said " you've been smokin again", I was so pleased that I could say " NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I haven't ". I did have a coffee tho'.

Now I need to stop eating for 8 weeks

CGT Compo Time Again

John,

See the thread re Marklin on the G Scale Sad forum , oh sorry you were kicked off, never mind it's the same ole, same ole, nothing new to talk about. All very boring these days. (Except the fighting).

The "experts" are those that know just where Marklin went wrong......and try to add the Chinese into the equation, and of course the Lets Go Broke fans are being tearful too, it has even been said that they should have done what Hornby have done and sold "cheap chinese" versions. Errrrrr 'scuse me !!! I'll get me coat.

Patrick, with 8 weeks on the clock you must over the worst of the withdrawl symptoms.
Staring to feel anti smoking is a good sign.

Watch out for those vunerable...on the terrace-in the evening sun-after a meal-with a large glass of wine moments. I get them occassionally even now.

But by the time we get any sustained sunshine, smoking should be distant memory. scratch

Anyway ... back to Marklin Wink

Although Marklin's stand at Nurnburg Toy Fair was supposedly unstaffed, the stand must have still been there, 'cos the new 2009 LGB models were on display, not just the already available items.

There is some good coverage of Nuremburg on RailTV and Jack Treves does briefly mention the Marklin financial issue.

Blo*oming heck the Large scale central lot are entertaining, with my crap spelling and inability to string setances together I would be taken round the back and shot, what a load of cr@p.

Like Carl says projects is whats required not pointless debate.

I'm going to be starting a new project very soon.

A small Regner steam loco kit that I've had in a box for a while.

Photos and details to follow.
