Can anybody identify this locomotive?

The famous successful French steam railmotor (automotrice à vapeur) is a Purrey.
This is not one of those I would say.

There were others like Serpollet and Turgan et Foy.

But as a long shot I would say that this is a Sentinal looking at those louvres. There were a number of metre gauge Sentinals built for France and elsewhere.

By the way I know you Mikey were on the quest for early I/C railcars and we said that none or very few existed before 1920.

Well I found that Turgan et Foy steam railcars were converted for petrol before 1920.
sadly no pics at this stage.

Toutes les machines ont été construites par la firme lyonnaise Pinguély. Elles avaient une particularité, elles possédaient deux cabines de conduite, une à l'arrière et l'autre à l'avant sur le tablier, devant la cheminée. La visibilité du mécanicien qui conduisait était ainsi améliorée.

Elles étaient du type "030" tender.

La firme Pinguély était une entreprise de construction de matériel de chemin de fer, basée à Lyon. Son activité commença à la fin du XIXe siècle siècle pour finir dans les années 1930.
Production
La production est d'environ 350 locomotives, la majorité est à voie métrique. Elles était destinées aux réseau de tramways et de chemin de fer à voie étroite.

Je n'ai pas connu que Pinguley a fabriqué les automotrices à vapeur.

The big green bogie diesel in one of the links from Laurent is a Brissonneau and Lotz. Very powerful and efficient in their day. One still serves on the CF de Provence.

Et merci aussi Laurent. J'ai l'histoire de cette ligne et tous les autres loco je connais, mais cette Pinguelly est un petit different n'est ce pas?

thanks for that link Carl. Not unlike my little draisine. My 'research' suggests that whilst it is true that before 1920 no railcar design was commercially viable, they were being developed at least ten years before,,Mr Laborie himself took over the draisines used to transport tourists at Royan in 1911 and added a larger petrol (essence) engine, but due to the weak carrying capabilities they were never put into use EXCEPT that the directors of a few lines used them for transport and they were furnished to very high standards. Again at the moment I cant find any pics but I'm working on it!!
