Les journées du Patrimoine

This year it takes place on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of September.

Many places not usually accessible to the public open their doors with lively interesting events.
As last year I shall be exhibiting at Longueville locomotive depot and roundhouse, home of the largest collection of steam locomotives in France.

Longueville is the old locomotive depot for Chemin de Fer de l'Est situated about 70kms south east of Paris and is operated by AJECTA

If anyone would like to come to this magnificent event to help or just visit then please let me know.
There are regular direct trains from Paris gare de l'Est.

I shall be there setting up on Friday 18th and commuting from home each day which is about 1 1/4 hrs away.

By the way there is quite a nice house for sale opposite the entrance to the steam railway museum.

This one looks more suitable for V..., there's train direct to Paris.
And it's Highly interesting for C..., seeing every morning some nice Loco (with a bigger garden and seem's to be a possible atelier in the basement).
And there's some direct bus from marne la vallée to pay a visit (if we move to Magny).

I will love to do the trip to Chantilly in the Pullman, just the price is stopping me.

Just to republish this one if anyone is thinking of a trip to the Paris area, 19/20 of this month.
I shall be there with the live diesel and the other usual stuff. If anyone wants to bring any stock they can happily play with it on my layout.

Next weekend for me is now cancelled due to a fire in the roundhouse at Longueville, public access is now forbidden and I cannot run my layout outside effectively or safely.

Sinistre à la Rotonde des Locomotives de Longueville (Seine-et-Marne)



Mercredi 09 septembre 2009, un incendie a partiellement endommagé la Rotonde des Locomotives de Longueville.

Aucun membre ne se trouvait sur le site, aucun blessé n’est à déplorer.



Quatre voies (9 à 12) sont touchées par l’incendie et présentent des dégâts plus ou moins importants.

Les dégâts les plus apparents concernent les façades avant et la charpente à proximité immédiate des rideaux.



Il est à préciser qu’aucun dégât majeur n’est constaté sur le matériel roulant qui se trouvait à proximité immédiate du sinistre.

Seules des chutes de morceaux de charpente et de tuiles ont pu détériorer ou tordre quelques éléments sans gravité.



L’alimentation électrique a pu être partiellement rétablie au cours de l’après-midi du jeudi 10 septembre.



L’origine du sinistre est accidentelle. .



Les conséquences les plus directes sont naturellement la fermeture au public du Musée vivant du Chemin de Fer jusqu’à nouvel ordre.

La 141TB407 n’a pas subi de dégâts et peut donc assurer les prestations prévues en octobre.



Afin de garder la cohésion de notre groupe, la confiance et l’amitié de nos visiteurs, l’AJECTA maintient l’organisation des Journées Vapeur des 19 et 20 septembre 2009,

sans accès sous la Rotonde.

Nothing come through yet on pm or email

I contacted John at Trackshack and he is sending me the Edrig chassis on Monday.

I better get the brass out and build another body although there is no urgency now that Longueville is cancelled for me.

I might try something different. I feel a bit of a Crampton coming on.
