Did anyone on here nab the Corpet from GRC before I got to it earlier today!

Hope it was someone here or somebody who appreciates French Loco's at least!

I think we should start a 'Want one' for a Corpet Louvet. There is something about them that looks typically French, but more than that they have a similar appeal (for me) as the stainz. If anybody gets hold of one please pay me a visit.I'd love to see it going throught the streets of Demiel!

Why not PM Phil. I'm sure he'd bring one or all three of his down to Demiel given a chance, he's over here til the 9th.

Yeah i know that but there are some French locos that dont look french (to me anyway) How does one define what looks french? smells of gauloisse's?,baguette crumbs in the cab? or a certain je ne sais quoi?

It depends on your French perception.

There is a unique style in France. For example if you go to Paris the litter bins on the Metro are the shape of a womans upper torso and silvery gold in colour.

For other iconic steam locos try looking at Pinguely, Piguet, Fives-Lilles, To me they are all typically (just as Corpet) French.

What do you think and what French locos don't look French then?

Yes it is a matter of perception. I didnt have a particular loco in mind when I said some of them dont look french. I should have said that, to me, some locos are more french looking than others. The Corpet, again for me, has got it all. I used to feel the same about the UK saddle tanks, its a certain character. BTW why dont you see any saddletankers over here. Sorry, why dont I (trying to cover himself in case there are loads that i havent seen yet!!)

An update on my never ending quest to acquire one of these beauties -

Comprehensively outbid on five auctions (four German and one UK) I went back to Grootspoor only to find that one sold too!

They are starting to go for silly money - Used - Avg condition - Non DCC £300 plus DCC £350 And new condition £400+

If anyone has or knows of one at sensible price - please let me know!

In the meantime I'll see if I can sell a donkey or two?

We would like donkeys for our new home in Normandy (when we buy it).

I had a donkey once before in England..... but she left and went back to her mother's. Twisted Evil

Seriously, you could try the VML forum for a Corpet. I seem to remember a couple for sale earlier this summer.

I'll make some enquiries here too.

Looks like it's black to me.... Laughing

What amazes me and it's observation not crticism is that there are the pedantic armchair enthusiasts who can argue about how many LGB plastic model variants there are or not, yet seemingly have little output concerning the real thing.

I wouldn't have a blooming clue what LGB did or not with their moulds.

I'm very pleased for you Brian you have model of a real French locomotive with a lot of history so what about some real stock now to match....

And now I understand about the Edrig.
