| Time to get out in that garden with trains... Monsieur Meteo says it will be hot for Normandy 20°+ but maybe some rain tomorrow for the first time this month. I might limp/shuffle around outside with a radio control. Pictures may follow.....

| It started here quite early, which is a shame - means I must cut the grass as it's been too damp this week. It also means that I won't be digging any trackbed, I am still suffering from yesterdays exertions. So much so that the dog did not get walked last night. It's not much but it's a start at last, not really worthy of these hallowed pages. | |

| I've done the grass this morning, was thinking of setting some tracks on the terrasse when I remenbered, there's the WEMFAL 2010 in Lille this weekend. The wife is at work and the children are on hollidays with the grand parents. So the choice was quick to make, One hour of TGV and I'll be there soon. http://wemfal.perso.neuf.fr/ | |

| Great pics Laurent! Certainly gives a good idea of the size of the layouts.

| Nice to see a big gathering of 45 mm. I see Gilles Barret and Michel Roussillon layouts along with Vapeur 45.
There is a large concentration of 45 mm interest around Lille but they model in different scales on the same track gauge.
We did this biennial show 2 years ago with a lot of fun and success and it would have been nice to have done it again...maybe in 2012 perhaps.
Are you staying the weekend Laurent? If so give my regards and some more close up pics would be great.

| I stayed only the afternoon, did a return trip, I would have love to stay more, because I think there will be more people on sunday and more locomotive on show.
The layout of vapeur 45 and the 2 just behind were steam engine. The one behind vapeur 45 in fact it's 2 layout, one is smaller inside a bigger one. I will have time to post some of the picture tomorrow afternoon.
But only HO things on sale nothing for IIm.

I am inclined to disagree Patrick, on two counts: 1. I'd like to see pics of any progress being made, even if it's of some turfs that have been dug up to form a track bed. The very best stories are those that unfold gradually, I think. 2. I wouldn't regard this site as 'hallowed' by any means, and I would say that anyone's efforts at starting a railway are more than worthy of being on here. It's a fair bet that others will learn something from watching your progress. But I agree, if you've spent all that time mowing the grass, then the dog can go walk itself!

| That show at Lille, is that the same venue as 2 years ago? Looks different somehow, I don't remember there being a balcony from which to take pics like those (very good pics by the way). | |

| The guy on the stand said he built everthing (except few locomotive) from plan he made. He's an old technical drawing teatcher from a technical school (lycée probably).
He built as well the engine in the shed and the stock (just add the picture, forgot it).
Maybe you can find a way to contact him and ask for the plan he made. There's a name on one of the picture and the name of the association I think on another one.

| Thank you for posting such lovely pictures. They're great for one such as I who can't so easily get to see French G Scale models. I like the livestock wagon and the brown van at the bottom there. I see the loco between them looks German - would these be models then of French or German prototypes? This rake of coaches is very nice. My perfect G Scale train! Can anyone comment on the prototypes these models may be based on? The furthest vehicle that seems to be half passenger coach and half luggage van is very interesting and I assume the van with the raised guards cupola is a fourgon? The nearest van looks like one of the Gecomodel vans while the others might even be based on LGB coaches? These sorts of scenes are priceless to me. I can find many old photos of metre gauge stations but getting an idea of the colours is so helpful, thanks! Also, great water tower. |

| No worries, if you want better resolution versions for whatever reason, let me know and I will send you them. | |

| Higher res ones would only be useful if I was going to try and base a kitbashing project on something which I don't think I will yet. But what is useful to me is good clear colour photos of buildings, whether railway infrastructure or civilian, plus rolling stock (not locos).
I think I ought to get myself over to the next Fete de Vapeur at the Baie de Somme! Is there one this year, or is it in 2011? |

| The fête de vapeur won't be until 2012. They only do it every 3 years now as the organisation and planning is vast.
The last one was last year.
What is worthy is the MTVS steam weekend near Paris every October, You can go round the sheds and sidings as you please and photograph and measure everything. As most places in France they are very helpful.
I was going exhibit there last year and may do so this year if I can get a place under cover this time.
