PostSubject: Commuting in Chelles   Commuting in Chelles EmptyMon May 10, 2010 10:57 am

This morning, a usual morning, I was commuting, I need to change in Chelles (ex town of Carl).

There, I have a choice bus line direct or another train and a tram (same time anyway).
The train was late, so missed the bus.

Good timing jus had the time to take some pictures :

The locomotive that done the world speed record on the TGV Est. They are use in the normal service now, forgot to take the one at the back of the train. It was a good start for a monday morning.

Cool

Question…. Is it written in French on the back of the train?

Great pictures Laurent if it was travelling at 300kph!
I wish I was organised and prepared enough to have a camera ready wherever I go.

A strange use of English grammar though.

"World's fastest railway speed".

Normally one would use the superlative to talk about the speed of the train not the railway.

How does one measure the railway speed (speed of the track)?scratch

I think the SNCF mean the world's fastest railway-train. study

Notice too the font letter style....very 'Gill Sans Bold'.....!

Still a fantastic achievement, I travelled on the first train to Reims when the line opened.

Chelles is the end of the TGV line, so it was slowing down to 160 km/h.
From Chelles to Vaires the speed limit is 230 km/h (on the middle track only), after it 320 km/h.

I think they might be trying to talk about the fastest train line at that time in the world, but true doesn't seems right when you thought of it.

More likely a direct translation from french.

I could send a mail to ask about the title, not sure they will like it. Twisted Evil

For the title in french I didn't pay attention, my local train was arriving on the other side of the platform.
