| On Sunday 6 June, myself, wife and two grandkids are going down to Guitres (north of Bordeaux, near Libourne). Its a tourist line, with a small museum in the station and a restaurant in a restored carriage. We last went two years ago and for 10 euros per adult we had a 50 minute round trip in an old carriage hauled by an 020 Meuse steam engine which took us to marcenais and return (dont know how much this year but it wont break the bank!). There are a lot of old coaches, wagons, locos and autorails awaiting restoration and you can just wander around with no restrictions. Its an interesting day out. The train leaves at 3.30pm so If anybody would like to come they are more than welcome, but would have to provide their own transport ('cos our car will be full!) http://ttgm.guitres.free.fr refers Mikey | |
