Last friday I visited a model village. There was a lo to see although the running trains were a bit of a disappointment (2 "L-shape" tracks point to point service, 1 of the 2 trains was derailed...).
The scale of the buildings was 1:20 according to the information sign. The little people are mostly Preisser as far as I could recognize. Cars mostly 1:25 scale, some bigger.
There were some really nice scenes. It gave me tons of new ideas, so I thought it's good to share the pictures with you for an inspiration boost!

For instance this nice carrousel. The animals are from Playmobil, the cars are die-cast models.

A great set of picture Paul. If my lottery ticket ever came in, thats what I would do - open a model village ! Pictures 32,33 & 51 show red towers - are these fire look-outs ? I need a tall structure for a corner of my railway and this would be something rather different.

No firetowers, although the smaller one would look great as one indeed.
These are light towers, used to guide shipping travel, now only for landmarks.

The smaller one is a lighttower in Vlissingen (see picture).

The bigger one is the (extrodanary) lighttower in Westkapelle. This tower was build as a the tower of gothic church in 1470. The church burned down in the 18th century and the tower was the only thing left. (see this drawing of the ruin).
In 1817 they placed a beacon on it so it could function as lighthouse. (see picture).

And I thought we had some pretty nice light houses in the US. Shocked

The attention to detail is just incredible in these scenes. I love the footed flower pots. Great photos, Paul, and thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks Paul, especially for the follow up information. I have to say that the Westkapelle light came as somewhat of a shock, but I have definitely had my inspiration boosted. Coincidentally, we climbed a disused church tower in Liverpool yesterday, so we may end up with a very strange building as a result.
