How to import videos into CGT Empty
PostSubject: How to import videos into CGT   How to import videos into CGT EmptyThu Oct 23, 2014 12:03 pm

Could some kind member point me at some instructions, that probably already exist, for importing/linking video clips into CGT.

Apologies if this is obvious but it has been a long time since I did any modelling or CGT input.

Thanks,
David

Hi David

Presuming the videos are already hosted on YouTube? The simplest way is to click the YouTube icon above the "reply" screen and follow instructions to "EMBED" them! Just make sure you copy the "embed" URL from YouTube.

Cheers

Could someone please just list the steps required to import a picture from ones PC into a CGT post.
No detail required just the basics.

Something wrong at my end. I have tried for an hour to do this so any help gratefully received.

Tx David

When you are on youtube, you have several choices.
The first one is "partager" sharing, but it gave you only a link.

You have another option called : "integrer" in french. ""embed" in English I think as Brian said
Then you see a line of code.
You have to copy this line onto your text window and the video is integrated when you publish it.

The line looks like that :

iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GGZyhQWfDAM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>

I just remove the first entry so the command line cannot be understood and you could see what it looks like.

It gave as well the possibility to choose the size of the video visible on the page, here an exemple :

Thanks very much Bearcastle, I can now include YouTube videos.

My final problem is that I cannot insert a still picture from my Windows picture library into a CGT post.
I cannot get "Host an image" or "Insert an image" icons to function and if I just do a conventional copy and paste then the picture appears too large in the post.

Any help greatly appreciated.

When you are on the window to write.
You have on top of it, a bar with some button, one is called "host an image"

It goes to servimp.com, I register on it first.
https://servimg.com/
So I could have access to the pictures, I put on it.

Then when you want to host, you clic on the icon.
It's asking you to upload an image from your computer.

So you clic on "choose" then you navigate to the file and you select it.
Then you will see the name of your file on it.
Now you have to send the picture with the button below.

The system is recalibrating the picture for the forum.
It's uploading, take time depending on the size of the picture.

If you want to embeded the picture, you have to copy the full link sentence, onto the window where you are writing
So you choose the link from "image"

And you paste it on the window where you are writing.

Try some test and look at preview first to get use to it.

Should work now.

Thanks again Bearcastle for your very clear description.

Everything now works fine.

The problem was that I was so impatient I did not wait long enough for the picture file to get "hosted"
