| Got video (will post from England in mid September) but no pics - camera packed up after I dropped it at Geoff's. I think I will post separately about the railcar - will use Dorothy's camera to take some pics. It was the Bachmann railtruck chassis's gearbox that failed - PLASTIC COGS???? I will need help on this one. Carl has one, but he probably built the chassis out of brass which he mined, smelted, refined and rolled himself...Kilometres out of my league! Phil | |

| Firstly huge thanks to Phil and Dorothy for hosting a super day at St Romain. Excellent lunch and a super established garden layout. Caro and I were only sorry we couldn't stay longer, but we needed to get back for the animals. Shame we forgot our swimming togs ... | |

| Van was a bit confused about the scale of the buildings some of the larger model doorways came up to his elbows .... Could be why he spent a lot of time on his knees ... And again with his Lyn ... Mainly because the pony trucks kept derailing on Phil's relayively tight curves ... | |

| Phil has a great selection of buildings from the sublime "Imagimonde" .... To this "Chad Valley" house which really looks the part as an isolated farmhouse in the undergrowth ... And great French rolling stock. Just one of his three Corpets ... Draisine ... Railcar ... | |

| Whilst Phil, Van and I played trains, the ladies chatted... And Louis, a neighbour of Van's snapped away on Van's behalf ... | |

| Another big thank you to Phil, pictured here surrounded by Van's paraphernalia ... I did take and run my Edrig, which, like the Lyn was a bit of a handfull and we had a couple of derailments. Phil took pics and video so look forward to seeing those in due course. Here's to the neext one a bientot | |

| So nice to see you all - great pics from Brian - thanks. I am afraid that my camera is packing up, so only two pics from me of rather poor quality - both of Brian trying to get Edrig under way - video looks good and I am trying to edit it here today. After visiting Geoff, Brian and me, Van now knows that a good railway for steam needs to be A. as level as possible, and B. have wide radius curves - neither of which apply to my railway! A l'annee prochaine! On doit le faire encore! Phil | |

| Thanks to Dorothy and Phil for a pleasant and relaxing day on Monday. As Phils states I`ve now visited three railways and have decided that because I don`t want to go down the R/C route,a level track with wide radius bends is essential for manual steam running.I`ve started on the foundations for the outer loop and this should/will be in place for next years breakfast meet.Total running lenght of this first loop will be in excess of 300 ft.Having experienced a steam up area in the full sun(no names but they have two donkeys)our steam up area will be in the shade with seating. The steam up area will comprise of two sidings approx 10 ft long so that complete trains can be steamed. As regards analogue or digital the jurys still out,but I am leaning towards analogue with sound. Van stainzless and still not used to this heat. | |
