Been buying and looking at various dwarf conifers today. The descriptive tickets all say that the plant prefers shade or semi-shade. My layout is in full sunshine (apart from first two hours of daylight). Has full sunlight killed off/harmed anybody elses trees or shouldnt i worry about it?

No....not in my (small) garden which faces south west.

Miniature conifers do need a bit of water I found.
You can grow your own from cuttings but the rooting hormone compost cost more than the cheap tiny dwarf conifers!

Sorry to be late posting here.

I bought 4 dwarf conifers from Bati-LeClerk last Autumn, they've overwintered well between a north wall and an occasionally frozen pond. I think any conifers do well as long as they are well watered and non subject to intense wind drying!

On the other hand if you have neighbour problems and looking for a boundary fence why not try topiary Embarassed

HeHe Ilike that Brian! I've got 7 conifers planted now and, touch wood they all seem to be doing OK. BTW My mate is a Bonzai Master (whatever that is) and he says now is the time to go for a walk in the woods looking for those miniature Oak tress that have grown from dropped acorns. Dig them up carefully, peel away the soil and look for the tap root (the biggest thickest root). Cut this off and tease out the small roots, trimming if neccessary, plant in rich soil and soon you will have a fine miniature oak tree that even gives tiny acorns. The best trees for this are any of the varieties of Oak and Ash.
