Kind of funky looking, especially the valve gear. I assume the pulleys are for the Heberlein brakes?

Yes on the brakes.

I always liked the Klose articulated locomotives, but the "klose" bits are non-functioning on the Accucraft model unfortunately.

MBV Schug (Accucraft.de) has done the IK, the IIIK as above and has since announced a VIK, which will also be offered in electric guise... but beware, they're built to 1:20.3. Nothing wrong with that per se, and Herr Schug vehemently defends the decision, but it means they're a lot taller/chunkier than the 1:22.5 rolling stock by LGB or Hilbert. He does offer the Frey models to go with the locos but there aren't many of them and the prices are truly eye watering.
