At the Wemfal 2010 on the display of CAV I saw an interesting technics to improve the points from LGB as you cannot adjut what I called in french "un contre rail" (forgot the english term for it)

Here some picture to see better what they did :

Sorry for the 2 last one i was a bit to closed for the phone (forgot to charged the camera the day before)

They told me that little jig help a lot avoiding derailment in improved the whole thing.

It's made of brass, a little bit more curved and it fit without glue.

The ‘check rail’ I think, if not someone will no doubt correct me, looks a good idea if you’re having problems.

Yes, check rail. Looks likely to be very useful particularly for older R1 LGB points where the moving part of the blade is pivoted half way along..who supplies them?

Looking at my R1's and the pictures, it seems to be flat brass strip wrapped around the existing check rail?

Yes it's a strip of brass adjusted (a bit more round than the LGB rail so it 's stay on the rail).
And the top of the brass is grinding in order to adjust it.

You could see it on the first picture.
