| Looks like the SLB are making a go of the Pinzgaubahn after their buyout from OBB. Not only are they getting on with restoring the lost section to Krimml they are putting on more trains and are pursuing freight contracts. To underline this, they have invested in new push-pull passenger stock and units, refurbished rollwagens and they now have another new locomotive on order from Gmeinder, of a type originally ordered by the Zillertalbahn. The Gmeinder BB 75 is a standard gauge centre cab locomotive but the BB 75-SE is a twin cabbed version built specially for the 760mm gauge, though able to be quickly re-bogied to standard gauge for use under open access arrangements. The buffer beams are also jigged and drilled for double buffers should standard gauge running be utilised. D13 / D14 / D15 / D16 were delivered to the Zillertalbahn between 2004 and 2006 ... The SLB bought a fifth in late 2006 for evaluation before the privatisation of the Pinzgaubahn went ahead and although it was numbered into OBB stock as 2096-001, the OBB put obstacles in the way saying it was to heavy to cross the bridges. This may or may not have been true, but proper evaluation was delayed for over a year until the official handover on 1st July 2008, and it has since proved a versatile tool. Renumbered to SLB Vs81, the SLB are so impressed with the type, they have ordered another, which is scheduled to be delivered around the end of 2009 and numbered Vs82.

| Positive news at last from the Pinzgau, then. Good to see a new design for the narrow gauge, and a successful one at that. | |

| Positive news indeed. Its good that new company is making a go of the line financially and that its more than a tourist attraction. Not my favourite looking diesel loco though - much prefer the old 2095 class (Which the SLB have in service) I took this pic at Obergrafendorf loco shed on the Mariazellerbahn in May 2007....... | |

| Here's one of 2095-010 (009 behind) at Waidhofen depot fresh after repaint in July 2005. No logos but later became first of the class to display OBB lettering instead of the Flying Snail logo. I couldn't get on the Pinzgaubahn because 2095-002 and 003 had crashed just days before .... |

| Blimy...you chaps. I've just taken 2095 off the front page and now you are talking fondly about them.....
Actually that's good because I like these engines too. Such a big loco on such small track.
Keep the pics coming.
Out of interest (and perhaps a stupid question) did they ever export these locos or derivitives to any other countries?

Digressing a bit, but, in the early '60's, Bulgaria were looking for a new diesel type for their BDZ 760mm gauge Septemvri - Dobrinishte route. The OBB sent 2095.09 from the Ybbstalbahn on 18th November 1963 for the BDZ to evaluate. 2095.09 was by then two years old and production had already ended with 2095.15 in September 1962. In the event, the BDZ weren't impressed and eventually ended up ordering 10 locomotives from Henschel / Germany in 1964, becoming BDZ Class 75 and entering service during 1965/66. These were similar to a metre gauge type that had been built for Spain, themselves being a scaled down DB Class 215. 2095.09 was returned to the OBB on 17th December 1963. - Quote :

You'll like the BDZ Classes 75 / 76 / 77 then (760mm) ..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTFBYESpxKA |

Well that's strange because the the Chemin de Fer de Provence bought one of these Spanish Henschels ex. FEVE. Photo by CCCP.
