Mobile Crane Empty
PostSubject: Mobile Crane   Mobile Crane EmptyMon Jun 13, 2011 3:56 pm

Here a thread about the "Mobile Crane". I bought that machine as a second hand from a UK shop.

It's a mix of the LGB Diesel D10 (2090) and the LGB crane 4042.
The chassis is hand made, probably some ABS and nicely glued. The join for the glue looks like, it 's a glue that weld the ABS together.

There 's a small piece crafted to cover the hole from the cabin.

The engine are from LGB diesel 2051 (2051 I and 205 II). It fit very well the crane and diesel design.

There 's a line of of copper under the chassis from one end to the other end, and the ligth are linked to it.
The copper line is probably coated with a layer of varnish, no sign of decay.
The light system reverse as well.
I remove the coupler for the moment as it cannot handle R1 curve. The front buffer is missing need to be glued again.

Here the pictures :

Thanks for the Photographs and the rundown, I was hoping the power bogies were from the LGB 2090 but that was too much to hope for I expect,is it approximately 540mm long?
I am going for a short visit to the UK shortly so will look in some model shops for inspirational material. It really is a nice powered crane.

Nice kitbash; I like it. Looks like you scored a good one. Even the colour's correct.

The size of the chassis is 463 mm by 104 mm.

There 's 5 mm at the back of the cabin and 4 mm on both the side of the cabin. It is the widest element on top.
There 's about 5 mm at the front as well, and a little bit less than 2 mm between the cabin and the crane.

The top of the chassis is 2 mm thick, the main beam under is 14 mm (border included 1,5 mm) and on the edge it goes to 40 mm.

The edge (front and back) next to the buffer the ABS is 3,75 mm thick.

For the box in the middle it's 70mm by 42 mm. It could have been a fuel tank has well instead of a box.

The chassis looks massive, but proportionnate to me.

Thanks for the dimensions. the standard 2051 (and numerous other numbers) is 436mm so your "crane train" is only 27mm longer interesting.

Laurent brought it over to the CFHC a couple of years back, and a very impressive wagon it is indeed!

Looks great and surely a one of a kind model. A very fine bash.
And it's yellow naturally...

PS according to the 3th and 4th picture it has a job to do; there's a car derailed near the garbage can!
