| No probs with the thread drift, glad to see members helping each other.
I'm sure Clive you are aware of L'Octant a French model supplier listed on our links page.
If Carl doesn't have a gear, he may be able to guide you towards one from that source!
Anyway not much happening on the CFHC today, been focusing on tree felling, winterizing the pool and potager!
bon chance to all | |

| The Loco belongs to Alec (of this forum). He is on holiday at the moment, but I'm sure he can tell you something of its history when he is back Brian. | |

| Good weather the last couple of days so a chance to get outside and tidy up a bit. Also give the new compartment carriages I've got for the Corpet an airing... However the days of steam on the railway may now be numbered as the new overhead catenary has been installed all the way from La Courriere to the site of a new planned cable car station above the lake. The service will be provided by a steeple cab E Lok and the tram pictured here. I had to fabricate a couple of extra Catenary pylons from brass strip. Some brackets from a Lapeyre kitchen came in handy for the bases. The site of the proposed cable car station above the lake ... | |

| Enjoying a one day break in the weather between the two cold fronts sweeping across Europe, I decided to do a bit of railway tidying. Everything looks so bleak this time of year, leaves gone from the surrounding trees and the layout looking bare with the homebuilt wooden buildings indoors to miss the worst of the winter weather. Caro is working in the UK this week so I am in charge of horse management, so put Zelda to good use trimming the grass around the track ... This afternoons project was to install a new R3 turnout to re-instate the Live Steam "steam up" pit. This is primarily to stop Van (FM12) moaning about steaming up in the blazing sun rather than the shade .... Indoors work has started on the Terminal stations for the cablecar to cross the lake, but I think I'll start a seperate thread for that project. | |

| Oh just tell her I did it in Photoshop! "You can't let horses anywhere near model railways" In truth she was only off the lead rope long enough for the picture - equines and catenary DO NOT mix ! | |

| I was hoping to post a picture of snow on the railway, just like Peter's on his thread. It looked particularly lovely this morning in the sunshine as I headed off to Limoges Airport to meet Caroline. Her flight was delayed (3 hours) at Gatwick and ultimately cancelled due to the closure of Limoges Airport. The N141 was blocked with lorries and it's a nightmare on the roads out there. It was a two hour return journey (normally 45 mins) using back roads - thank goodness for a 4x4, All terrain Tyres, Traction Control and Anti - lock brakes, there were cars going off the road in all directions (not due to my driving I might add).
I worry for Carl's move this weekend!
Anyway now home but snowing hard and no pic!
Caro's been lucky to get a seat on Eurostar/TGV via Lille to Angouleme so will hopefully be home 10 tonight!
If the snow eases I'll grab a pic and hopefully also run the Edrig.

The thing is Brian if you have decent All Terrain tyres on your 4x4; you don’t need traction Control and anti lock brakes. I am sure the electronic systems are only fitted too vehicles because they fit such rubbish tyres from the factory. My old 110 had no electronics on the wheels and coped better than the Discovery does in the snow, with its silly TC going off all the time and achieving nothing

| I your wife gets back safe and not too late. I used to do that France - UK commuting stress until 2003 albeit just as a far as Paris. Angouleme is double the distance. Great snow pictures. I didn't have the heart to take any here. I might use one or two from people's pics for the forum if one doesn't mind. | |

| Thanks Carl. Caroline eventually reached Angouleme at 11pm only an hour delay on the TGV. Thankfully didn't get stuck in the Chunnel, unlike the later Eurostar trains! So finally got out this afternoon to do some live steaming in the snow... | |
