| Clever! Although I would be afraid a bit that one of those horses could step on the viaduct or drop some say 'fertilizer' on spots you did not want... But luckily they have a good companion keeping an eye on them I see! What are the lawnmowers names? | |

What are the lawnmowers names? The chestnut is "Copper" and the grey "Zelda" and yes it is risky, however I can vouch that LGB track will withstand a direct downward hoof but not a sideswipe!

| Enjoying a couple of days fine weather have set too on a major spring clean on the railway, cut the grass, removed and cleaned the watermill and re-routed the pllumbing for the wheel and repaired rhe jetty. Replaced loose stones (scale avalanches) from the adjacent stone wall, and using tweezers removing leaf and twig debris from points and track! Having finally cleared the moles (now up to 9 "kills") could clean mud off the tracks and have test run steam and DCC electric for the first time this year! In testing my 12 volt auxillary lighting circuit must have a direct short somewhere and it blew the transformer ( like an idiot, I'd put a 50 instead of 5amp fuse in the circuit ) so it's back to using a 12 volt car battery for the building and signal lights, once I've found the short circuit of course! Anyway nice to be outside running trains again despite the cold Also by chance met another model rail enthusiast locally whilst collecting 80 bales of hay for the horses... Ray has amassed the biggest collection of Hornby Dublo 3 rail I've ever seen and now having retired to France is in the process of setting it up in the first floor of an old barn!

| Good news of your progress and spring cleaning of the track Brian. It is still to damp and clammy outside for grass cutting and working on my clay soil. I need to catch it in the spring between when it is too sticky to work and bakes hard in the sun. My moles have re appeared in the past few days so I think we may hear some old fashioned FOG warning signals going off over the next few days. | |

| I think Spring is here!
New lambs in the neighbour's field. First sighting of Storks flying North and a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine playing trains and spring cleaning the track !

| I wondered whether it was your military training or just the observation of ground shadows to deduce that the siding is indeed pointing due South towards Mikey and the Dordogne Regretably I do not have the funds to extend the line that far, but into a proposed "shed" on the concrete base just appearing at bottom left picture. | |

A ‘Storage shed’ is definitely the way to go Brian, it increases the pleasure of using the railway immensely I find.

| Ray is the chap who has the biggest collection of Hornby Dublo I've ever seen in my life, but he's now seriously thinking about a Garden Railway and went away clutching an old LGB catalogue of mine. After seeing live steam and his daughter and grandkids reaction he's even considering live steam We were very lucky with the weather clouds threatened but it stayed dry and nice and cool. | |

| The railway is looking very good especially with such enthusiastic visitors. Looks like there are multiple operating scenarios there as well. | |

| I had my first visitors from the local Dutch camp site a couple of weeks back and Chris Beekhuizen kindly sent some video clips through that he took that day.
I would like to post them to the forum but have no idea about hosting and posting video.
Can anyone help?

| You-Tube is an obvious one, provided it's less than 10 mins long I think Photobucket allows video uploads these days too Some alternatives : http://www.blip.tvhttp://vimeo.comOnce you've got it on one of those sites, then the site will usually give you some code to paste to a place of your choice, either a web page, or a forum post, or whatever Hope that helps some? | |
